Each Residency immerses members in environments that have tested conviction, shaped culture, and reimagined what it means to lead. It’s part gathering, part reflection, and part catalyst — created for those who believe the future of how we lead can be found through history, humanity and place.
What is the Holt Street Residency?
The Holt Street Residency is a membership-based community of 300 Residents, a living network of influential voices redefining the next generation of leadership through high-trust fellowship. It’s executives, innovators, Pulitzer winners, politicians, military leaders, artists, athletes, and cultural icons.
Who is it for?
It’s for leaders who know that leadership wasn’t born in boardrooms or roundtables — it’s forged through people, story, and places, and shaped through lived experience. Thoughtfully designed for those shaping consequential conversations in their fields and who share a curiosity for ideas and a desire to lead with context, courage, and imagination.
What do Residents experience?
Residency members participate in immersive, place-based gatherings throughout the year. These experiences include private site visits, intimate conversations with living legends, and dialogues that connect history to the present. Beyond the gatherings, members receive access to private dinners, VIP events, behind-the-scenes conversations, and curated opportunities designed to deepen connection and expand perspective with fellow Residents.
Where does the Residency take place?
Each Residency is anchored in a city that has shaped the American story of leadership and progress — from Montgomery & Selma, Alabama (Winter 2025) to Clarksdale, Mississippi (Spring 2026). Each location serves as both classroom and catalyst, reminding us that leadership is shaped by the environments, people, and stories that surround us.
What is the time commitment?
Each in-person gathering is a day and a half. Additional member events and experiences occur throughout the year with flexible participation depending on interest and schedule.
What is the Membership Structure?
Membership in The Holt Street Residency is annual and invitation-based. It includes access to one core gathering each year, ongoing community engagement, and member-only VIP experiences hosted across the country. Members renew annually.

About the 1 Dexter Gathering
The Residency at 1 Dexter gathering is our signature, invitation-only 1½-day leadership gathering held at our historic HQ, 1 Dexter Avenue, in Montgomery, Alabama. This is an immersive experience designed to move at a fast pace. Residents will engage in high-impact sessions with Medal of Honor recipient Master Chief Edward Byers alongside face-to-face conversations with living Civil Rights legends, and tours to historic sites like the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the Legacy Museum, and other pivotal landmarks.
Along the way, we’ll hear directly from living legends whose courage, clarity, and strategic brilliance helped reshape the nation — including Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Dr. Fred Gray and legendary Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford. We’ll also explore some of the most powerful civil rights landmarks in the country: from the Edmund Pettus Bridge and Dexter Avenue Baptist Church to the new museums and memorials led by Bryan Stevenson and the Equal Justice Initiative.
Montgomery is just the beginning. Throughout the year, the Residency will immerse members in new landscapes and stories that expand the leadership dialogue in unexpected ways — each guided by a place that tells its own chapter in the American story of leadership.

$7,500.00
Membership includes access to all signature gatherings and curated member-only experiences throughout the year.
Membership is by invitation only, non-transferable, and remains active for 12 months from the date of activation, with the option to renew annually. Membership dues do not cover the cost of ticketed VIP experiences, which may be offered at a separate fee. Residency Membership may qualify as a business expense under leadership development, executive education, or professional networking.
